Bill Stewart's "Snide Remarks"

Bill Stewart's "Snide Remarks"

[Download Link Below]

Bill Stewart's drum solo from the title track of his album Snide Remarks, recorded February, 1995.

Transcription published in Modern Drummer in 1998.

  • Bill Stewart on Drums
  • Larry Grenadier on Bass
  • Eddie Henderson on Trumpet
  • Joe Lovano on Tenor Sax
  • Bill Carrothers on Piano

Also check out the opening few bars he does at the top of the tune. I never transcribed it but it might be worth figuring out. If you do, send me an email, I’d love to see it.

I've included a recording of the entire track, one of the drum solo,  and a pdf of the transcription.

    Solo starts around 03:48.

His playing is so fluid, that at times, I find it hard to keep up. Looks easy on paper but so much over-the-bar goodness makes this one hard to follow.
